2019 President Dan Hansford Welcomes You to the 76th Annual Championship
Posted on February 6th, 2019 No commentsWe are extremely excited to bring the 76th Annual Championship back to San Francisco this year. We will be playing Lake Merced Golf Club and TPC Harding Park July 29 and 30 with the Annual Cocktail Party –Welcome Reception hosted by Lake Merced Golf Club Sunday evening July 28, where members and a guest (spouse or significant other) will be treated to hosted cocktails (2 per person) and heavy hors d’oeuvres. After two rounds of golf at these historic courses, the event concludes with hosted cocktails (2) and a wonderful Annual Meeting (stag) dinner at Lake Merced Golf Club Tuesday evening July 30.
Lake Merced Golf Club has a long history of supporting competitive golf at both the amateur and professional level. The club has played host to USGA qualifying tournaments for both the men’s and women’s U.S. Opens in recent years and in 2012 was the host venue for the U.S. Girls’ Junior Championship and the Swinging Skirts LPGA Classic in 2014 – 2016. The club is currently the host venue for the LPGA Mediheal Championship thru 2020. Lake Merced also hosted the California Amateur Championship in 2009 and 2015 and the California Senior Amateur Championship in 2016.
TPC Harding Park is owned by the city and county of San Francisco. It was designed by Willie Watson and opened in 1925. Golf Digest Magazine has honored TPC Harding Park as the No. 13 municipal golf course in the United States as well as the No. 24 course to play in California. The golf course underwent a major renovation in 2002-2003 then hosted the 2005 WGC-American Express Championship and the 2009 Presidents Cup. It is scheduled to host the 2020 PGA Championship which would be the first Major Championship to be held at a TPC property.
Ladies golf is being offered at nearby Green Hills Country Club. Designed by famed architect Dr. Alister MacKenzie in 1930, Green Hills is nestled in the hills above Millbrae, with great views of San Francisco Bay.
Our host hotel will be the Hyatt Regency San Francisco Airport in nearby Burlingame.
Reminder: The Saticoy Club will be the host for our 2019 Four-Ball Championship, November 11-12, 2019. Originally designed by William Bell it is famous for its green configurations and should provide a fun challenge for our group. Similar to Pasatiempo, we will play it on consecutive days to help the experience. It was recently ranked No. 10 in California by Links Magazine and we also anticipate the weather to be quite pleasant in early November.
See you at Lake Merced Sunday evening!!
Dan Hansford – 2019 CSGA President
